While wandering in town to change his mood, the young knight meets with a fortune-teller who informs him that in order to be stronger, he must seek the help of the Priest of Light as he might know how to change his class. Overcome by grief, Duran's mother Simone died from her illness shortly after hearing the somber news. Duran is a soldier of Valsena and son of the late Golden Knight Loki who went missing after a successful attempt by the Hero King to eradicate the Dragon Lord. This gambit starts with Duran winning the Sword Mastery Tournament, youth division in Castle Valsena after defeating his sparring partner Bruiser. Mana bagan to disappear from the world, and the Mana Tree to wither. They started a terrible war to further their plot and destabilize the kingdoms. However the forces of evil sought to free the Benevodons to gain control of the world. Weak from rebuilding the world, the Goddess changed into a tree and fell asleep for years. She sealed the horrors inside the eight Mana Stones, bringing the realm back from the brink. When the world was shrounded in darkness, the Goddess of Mana drew forth the Sword of Mana to smite the eight Benevodons, monsters of destruction.
